Learning Reflection

        This course I think every lesson is important to study and remember. This is the lesson of the course.

















       I think every lesson in this course I found the problems in reading difficult words and find main idea. I solved problems are open dictionary on my smartphone and practice reading and understanding , but this course important and different to study but it make me understand more than before.Thank you Asst. Prof. Dr.Usa Noytim to teach me and my friends to know about English Reading Strategies and have new experience.

Extensive Reading

 

                    On 17 November 2015, I had the reading English strategies class. The teacher taught about "Extensive Reading.'' When the class started.She gave us reading the text (simply read) and did the exercises-comprehension1 and comprehension2 around 15 minutes. Then I read the text, I would look at the heading of the text first and sub-heading of the paragraph. And then I previewed the article of Simply read for speed reading. After I had already read previewing, I used scanning again for keeping reading and interpretation story.I found the most difficult about finding the main idea and difficult words. I cannot understand this story and find the main idea. It makes me spend a lot of time in the activities. I am going to solve the problems are reading it a few time and searching the words on dictionary.cambridge.org.This class, I’m a little serious but happy. Thank you for reading.

The ASEAN Community 2015






            On 10 November 2015,I had the reading English strategies class. The teacher taught us about " The ASEAN Community 2015." She gave watch  the video introduction to the ASEAN countries. When I heard the topic, This topic is very easy for me. I get to know when the ASEAN had been formed in, when the ASEAN declaration signing had taken place in, what the last country that had joined the ASEAN had been and what the aims and purposes of the ASEAN were. etc.    I found easy to know the name of ASEAN stands for The Association of Southeast Asian Nations. because it’s near my and the lecturer gave us to read phonetic symbol for reading clearly by Cambridge dictionary online. I had to know strategies for find the answer . It is scanning skill and reading skill I will try to guess words meaning, find the reference, and summary the main idea I am going to solve the problems are reading it a few time and searching the words and opened dictionary on my cell phone etc. Thank you for reading.

Read Faster!




        On 3 November 2015, I had the reading English strategies class in the morning. The teacher taught me about " Read faster." When I heard the topic, I was interested. The class started. She gave us discussing about obstacls to faster effective reading. I said that I read in English so slowly because I would use scaning every word. If I didn't know the meaning of other words, I would open dictionary and write the meaning their words on the notebook. If I didn't comprehend or interpret the text, I would read it many times. I found difficult like words, phrases and main idea. when I had problems, I will try to guess words meaning, find the reference, and summary the main idea but I cannot understand this story and find the main idea. I am going to solve the problems are reading it a few time and searching the words on dictionary.cambridge.org, and opened dictionary on my cell phone etc.

                  On 27 October 2015, I learned about "Classic Ann Landers" When the class started,The teacher gave us read the letter of Ann Landers to advice to the problem others. It is interesting but It makes me serious all the period. because we cannot do the exercise of this unit. I found the most difficult about finding the main idea and difficult words. I cannot understand this story and find the main idea. It makes me spend a lot of time in the activities. I am going to solve the problems are reading it a few time and searching the words on cambridgedictionary. If I was unfamiliar some words or some phrases and try to find the main idea, I will note them in my handout. I used skimming, scanning, finding the main idea, and checking the answers of "Classic Ann Landers" in reading. This class I don’t get tired and understand. Thank you.

               On 13 October 2015, I had the reading English strategies class in the morning. The teacher taught me about " Paragraph Reading Strategies : Books and Novels" When the class started, she gave us doing the exercise- There are eight short descriptions of books and novels. Read the question and then skim the descriptions for the answeres. Work as quickly as I can. Compare my answers with other student.

West meets East (continue)

West meets East (continue)

               On 13 October 2015, I had the reading English strategies class in the morning. The teacher taught me about " West meets East." to continue last week. when the class started, she gave us discussing the questions with my partner that the text mentions many celebrities, foods, and products from Asia. Which are we familiar with? Do you like them? and what products, celebrities, and foods from other Asian countries do we like? around 10 munites for discussing. And then she gave us to do the exercise about the vocabulary focus1 : Complete the text with the words in the box and taught the grammartical how to use like and such as. After that she told us to read the text about ''Expat in Asia'' I used skimming, scanning, finding the main idea in reading. I found the problem about articulation correct. I solved problem are open Cambridge Dictionaries Online. This is to help promote voting and I don’t have trouble pronouncing words any more. Thank you teacher recommend. This class I love the way the teacher lesson because, I don’t get tired and understand. Thank you.

West meets East

                   On 6 October 2015, I had the reading English strategies class in the morning. The teacher taught me about " West meets East." When I heard the topic, I was interested. The class started. She gave us to look at the powerpoint for reaching the lesson and taught the cultures between the west and east. I was excited so much because I was allover about the west meets east cultures. And then she gave to do pre-reading1 and pre-reading2 (Discuss the questions with a partner.) Next, She gave us to read the story that was the "Asianization" of the United States. I found the problems in reading difficult words and incorrect pronunciation and I cannot understand this story and find the main idea.  I solved problems are used skimming, scanning, finding the main idea in reading and  open dictionary on my smartphone and Cambridge dictionary online training to correct pronunciation. My attitudes toward this lesson is useful for all students. It can be applied to the other course or lesson for understanding in reading each of stories. Thank you for reading.

Fashion (continue)


Fashion

            On 22 September 2015,  I learned about "Fashion" that continues last week. The class started. The teacher reviewed the info last week. She asked us that Could you show the pictures about hair in their countries? But I forget this homework. Therefore she said "Who forget  this homework? Let's go to do it quickly. I give you 15 minutes." When I heard that I run to do it quickly. When I had already done it, I went  back the class. Then she told us to look at our hand-out. Next, she provided us to read the story. the story was "Splitting Hairs." because she had to attend to the meeting. She told Aj.Putsadee to take the class instead her. After that  Aj.Putsadee  to take the teach instead. I think it is difficult for me because, I cannot understand this story . I found the problems in reading difficult words and find main idea. I solved problems are open dictionary on my smartphone and practice reading and understanding the story. This week make me enjoy and I have more knowledge about skimming, scanning, finding the main idea. Thank you for reading and comments blog of me.

“ Fashion”








         







      

 On 15 September 2015, The teacher taught about “ Fashion”  Then she gave handout and wrote the topic on the white board that “ Fashion” and told us what wrote “ what are the words in association with fashion” and students to write on the white board. Then the teacher taught how to read the story at our handout. The story is “ Fusion? Confusion! ” I found the most difficult about finding the main idea and difficult words. I can’t understand in the story line and finding the main idea. It makes me spend a lot of time in the activities, but the teacher train me to understand finding the main idea. Thank you teacher. I found a lot of problems, but I will try to practice as much as possible. I will practice reading the story and finding the main idea. The teacher told me to arrange my schedule in the life, I am gonna do it in order to divide time out of practice. This class, I’m a little serious but happy. Thank you for reading.

“ Today ’s technology” [continue]


“ Today ’s technology” 



     On 8 September 2015, I learned about “ Today ’s technology” to continue from last week. The teacher gave us to take a sit on the set chair. And she gave to do the test for me about “ A healthy diet and The natural disasters.” After that she said, sitting in a group of six groups and she allotted work to each group. The topics are Blogging for ELT1 , Blogging for ELT2 , Podcast1 , Podcast2 , Facebook , and Search engine. Every one, start reading the topic in the group and take the topic’s summary. Next each of groups’2 people move to other groups for talking about the topic’s summary and exchange summary between other groups. When said finished, the teacher directs to go discuss about the getting topic in front of the class. Next, the teacher gave to read the story about “Musicnews & Views.” I used skimming and scanning strategies and find the reference of subject in reading. I found the pronunciation. I solved problems are open dictionary book and Cambridge dictionary online to practice pronunciation. This class I received has a lot of knowledge. Thank you for reading.

Technology


 “ Today ’s Technology.”




              On 1 September 2015, I learned about “ Today ’s technology.” The teacher gave us to discuss about technology and she gave handout for students. She said about technology and for us to go write the words about technology on the board. This week the teacher gave to read the news story about Profcast. How to read the news story the teacher say that 1.Look at the picture 2.Predicting the picture 3.previewing strategies 4.Tips for writing a summary which made us be easy for reading , interpretation and comprehension. I read the story is profcast of the text , I think it is difficult for me because, I don’t ever use a profcast. I found the problems in reading difficult words and incorrect pronunciation. I solved problems are open dictionary on my smartphone and Cambridge dictionary online training to correct pronunciation. This week I have more knowledge about profcast and know the advantage and disadvantage of the technology. Thank you.

 On 25 August 2015, I learned about “News stories : Natural Disaters” continue. The teacher make a requisition read the news stories and answer the questions of the news. The news stories is Earthquake in Japan and wildfires in California. I read the news stories quickly and seeking to main point of news stories. I found the problem about articulation correct. I solved problem are open Cambridge Dictionaries Online. This is to help promote voting and I don’t have trouble pronouncing words any more. Thank you teacher recommend. This class I love the way the teacher lesson because, I don’t get tired and understand. Thank you.

“News Stories: Natural Disasters”

                              

                               On 22 August 2015, I learned about “News Stories: Natural Disasters” I think this lesson is easy for me because, it is a common around us and can be found in the media. I share the words in association natural disaters with friends. I found the problems about words unknown and reading the gist of the news. I solved problems are open dictionary and practice read the news often. After I do activities finish. The teacher let everyone presentation “A healthy diet” it is the first lesson. This class make me enjoy and a lot of knowledge because the teacher train understand and enjoyable. Thank you.

                         On 11 August 2015, I learned about “A healthy diet?” continue.This week the teacher taught me about  “ Westerners turn to a Japanese food diet ”.The text about Japanese food and benefit of Japanese food. The Teacher recommend topic writing. I do activities e.g. read the text, answer the questions, complete the sentences and check the sentences True or False. I found the problems about topic writing because I don’t know point of the text. I solved problems is practice reading skill. This class make me enjoy and receive knowledge more and more. Thank you.
